Bad weather comes with good fishing

The Thanksgiving Day weekend can deliver good fishing action, but it depends on the waters you choose. Of course, unknown factors like sudden high winds, rain showers or severely dropping temperatures can affect your chances of hooking something. But always remember that bad weather often affects humans more than it does fish.

Scarring disease also deadly to bay rockfish

RICHMOND, Va. - A chronic bacterial disease that infects more than half of all the striped bass in the Chesapeake Bay is also lethal to the prized game fish, researchers concluded.
Scientists at the Virginia Institute of Marine Science said they are the first to conclusively link mycobacteriosis to the death of rockfish, the more common name for bay stripers.

Fishing forecast for the week of Nov. 27 - Dec. 4

It's Thanksgiving Day, and for area anglers, there is plenty for which to be thankful. Today also marks the final Fishing Forecast this year. Many have asked in the past, with such good fishing all winter, why we don't publish the forecast year-round.

Arrogant state puts squeeze on sportsmen

I would like to inform the hunters, gun owners and fishermen about the laws of the state of Maryland that pertain to them.
One politician has manipulated the General Assembly, abolished Comar Regulations in the 2005 session and created House Bill 756 or Senate Bill 685 — both are the same. The bill gives all shooting ranges and hunting clubs the right to continue.
